Leaders and activists from Awami League and its associate bodies clashed with police in Bianibazar Sylhet on Sunday after police intercepted a protest rally against Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid.
10 leaders and activists from the protesters were injured in the incident.
Witnessed said, Upazila Seswasebok League President Abul Kashem Pallab led a protest procession in the municipality area against Nurul Islam Nahid with about one thousand leaders and activists.
After the protest procession they started a rally there. But police intercepted their step.
Then the protesters engaged clash with the police.
Upazila Seswasebok League President Abul Kashem Pallab, Municipality Seswasebok League General Secretary Nasir Uddin, Seswasebok League activist Suman Ahmed and Chhatra League activist Jewel Ahmed and other six persons were injured.
