At last after hours long negotiation meetings, Barisal District Awami League leaders succeeded to calm rebel mayor candidates by giving them higher post in the party and pressing to expell from the organisation .
Political sources said 3 rebels AL candidates for mayoral post of Muladi were Delwar Hossain Haoladar, Jubo League central committee member, Didarul Ahsan Khan, upazila Sramik League Convener and Aziz Haoladar, central president of Muktijoddha Projanmo League.
Another rebel AL candidate for mayoral post of Banaripara municipality was three-time elected outgoing mayor and upazila AL vice-president Golam Saleh Manju Molla.
Advocate Talukdar Md. Yunus, district AL secretary and lawmaker, said the rebel candidates of AL for Muladi municipality already agreed to withdraw their nomination papers in favour of upazila secretary, incumbent mayor and officially nominated AL candidate Shafiquzzaman Rubel.
The party also assured them to evaluate their sacrificaes and contributions for the organisation, the district AL secretary said.
On Thursday night district AL leaders held a negotiation meeting at Mohishapota government primary school of Banaripara in presence of Golam Sarwar, editor daily Samakal, the leaders of the district upazila and municipal units, nominated and rebel mayor candidates of AL.
