Police has arrested Awami League leader Abdul Malek, who was active in assaulting headmistress of West Sutrapur Government Primary School at Dhamrai in Dhaka district.
Police netted him on Thursday night at 9 pm after filing of a case.
The victim identified as Fouzia Yasmin filed a case with Dhamrai Police Station against three persons including Abdul Malek. The other two accused are Assistant Teachers Aktar Hossain and Kaniz Nasima.
Sheikh Mohammad Rezaul Haque Dipu, Officer-in-Charge of Dhamrai Thana, said that the other two accused would also be arrested. A fair investigation would be carried out to unearth the real incident.
Sources said that Fouzia changed her office room with other teachers on Monday, which Akter Hossain and Kaniz could not accept. On Wednesday, the two teachers convinced Abdul Malek, local Awami League leader and Vice-President of the school management committee, to come to the school. Abdul Malek and Fouzia exchanged hot words over the issue.
Malek charged Fouzia roughly, who took shelter in the school lavatory in fear, yet she could not save herself. She was walloped in presence of school management committee president Kazi Mohammad Fazlul Haque. She fell on the ground unconscious.
