Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested the son of a local Awami League leader from Ishwardi upazila headquarters early Friday and recovered 30 bullets from his possession.
The arrested was identified as Ripon, 32, son of Abdul Quader Miah, president of Maligachha union unit of AL under Sadar upazila. Sources at Rab-12 said a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the upazila headquarters of Ishwardi
in the early hours and arrested Ripon. Following his confessional statement, the crime busters recovered the ammunition from his house at Majidpur in Sadar upazila.
Pabna Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Kazi Haniful Islam said they produced Ripon before a court that sent him to jail. In another incident, police arrested a man, Abdul Malek, 30, son of Khalil Khan of Hemayetpur village in Sadar upazila, along with a foreign revolver and one magazine from Kashipur area of the district town in the early hours. A case was filed in this connection.
