AL leaders greet Hasina on birthday

Awami League leaders on Friday greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is now in New York to join the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA),on the occasion of her 72nd birthday.
Central Awami League leaders and ministers who are visiting the USA as the Prime Minister’s entourage greeted Bangabandhu’s daughter by presenting her bouquets at her hotel suite at Grand Hyatt New York.
PM’s younger sister Sheikh Rehana was present on the occasion.
AL Presidium Member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Joint General Secretary Dr Dipu Moni, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, PM’s Adviser Dr Towfique-e-Elahi Chowdhury, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki and senior officials of the Prime Minister’s Office were also present.
Later, officials of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, led by the foreign minister, greeted the Prime Minister by presenting a bouquet and a birthday cake.
Sheikh Hasina arrived here on September 23 on a weeklong official visit to the United States to attend the 73rd session of the UNGA.
She is scheduled to leave here for home on Saturday evening local time and reach Dhaka in the morning on October 1 via London.
On September 28 in 1947, Sheikh Hasina, the eldest of the five children of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Begum Fazilatunnesa, was born at Tungipara in Gopalganj.
