Awami League (AL) national committee member and one of the organisers of the Liberation War Waliur Rahman Reza died at his residence in the city on Saturday morning.
He was 80, said an AL press release here.
Reza, also an advisor to the Gaibandha district AL and former lawmaker from Gaibandha-5 constituency, left behind his wife, only son and a host of relatives, admirers and political colleagues and followers to mourn his death.
AL General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Reza.
In a condolence message, he prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
