A local leader of Awami League was killed when a truck hit his motorcycle at Nijpat Bandarhati village in Jaintapur uapzila early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Mokhlesur Rahman Doula,60, general secretary of Jaintapur upazila unit Awami League.
Witnesses said the accident took place in the area around 2:40 am when a stone-laden truck hit Mokhlesur’s motorcycle while he was returning home after attending a village arbitration, leaving him critically injured.
Later he was rushed to Jaintapur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
