UNB, Faridpur :
Police recovered the body of a local Awami League leader from Bashagari area in Nagarkanda upazila on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Jahangir Matubbar, 55, president of Fulsuti union unit AL of the upazila and also a manager of Sonali Bank Hatkrishnapur branch.
Abdul Karim, officer-in-charge of Nagarkanda Police Station, said Jahangir went out of the house with is motorcycle on Monday evening to attend an upazila election meeting and had not returned since then.
A patrol team of police spotted the body of Jahangir in the area and recovered it at about 8:30 pm.
Later, the body was sent it to Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy on Tuesday morning.
Police suspected Jahangir might have been killed by muggers for snatching his motorcycle.
A case was filed.
