The aspirant candidates from Bangladesh Awami League (AL) for Faridpur-1 constituency (Alphadanga, Boalmari and Modhukhali upazilas) are trying to attract the voters through different social activities.
Besides, they have been lobbying with the high-ups of AL and trying to mange local AL leaders to confirm their nomination.
Member of the Advisory Council of AL and former Member of Parliament Kazi Sirazul Islam, Joint General Secretary and incumbent MP Md Abdur Rahman and Vice-President of Bangladesh Krishok League Arifur Rahman Dolon are in the filed.
But the root level AL leaders and activists, and general voters want a clean image and popular leader for the constituency.
They said Kazi Sirazul Islam is the most popular leader in this region. He helps the people whatever they need.
General Secretary of Alphadanga upazila Krishok League Sheikh Delwar Hossain said, Kazi Sirazul Islam have been serving the people of Alphadanga, Boalmari and Modhukhali upazilas for long time. Most of the local AL leaders and activists also like him and response him positively. “So he deserves the AL nomination in the upcoming national election. And he will definitely win in the election with highest number of votes,” he hoped. “AL lost every seat in the 2001 election except Kazi Sirazul Islam’s seat. He is the man of strong personality and clean image,” Delwar said.
Shekhor Union AL President A N M Jamal said, Kazi Sirazul Islam is the friend of the poor people. He has been doing social work since his youth time. He established many educational institutions in our areas. Considering all things he is the perfect man to get AL nomination, Jamal said.
Meanwhile, Boalmari Upazila Chairman Moshrraf Hossain Musa, Former President of Bangladesh Chhatra League Liakot Sikder, General Secretary of Sramik League Md Sirajul Islam, President of Bangabandhu Parished Md Shakhawat Hossain are also lobbying to get the AL nomination for the Faridpur-1 constituency.
