Awami League (AL) nominated candidate Roksana Alam was elected as the Khulna City Corporation’s (KCC) women
councilor (10th reserved seat).
Returning officer and regional election officer MD Younus Ali declared the results yesterday (Saturday) evening.
Roksana Alam, Awami League (AL) nominated candidate, with “Pineapple” symbol got 7,425 votes while her only rival candidate Rokeya Faruk with the
‘Book’ symbol of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) bagged 7,58 votes.
The 10th reserved seat, consisting of three words, of Khulna City Corporation has a total electorate of 65,150 and a total of 37 centers.
“We voted peacefully and voting on electronic voting machines (EVM) has become much easier” said, Nazeef Ahmed, resident of Tank Road in the city.
“With the overall cooperation of two candidates and their activists, we have been able to conduct the by election in a free, fair and impartial
manner,” said Returning officer and regional election officer MD Younus Ali.
The seat fell vacant as its counselor Lutfunnesa passed away on November 5 last year.
