Jatiya Party (JaPa) chairman HM Ershad on Thursday alleged that the greed for power of two major political parties-Awami League and BNP-is pushing the country towards destruction.
“Our children can’t go to school and sit for exams. There’s an acute unemployment problem in the country. The unemployed are getting involved in various criminal activities out of frustration. Youths are getting addicted to Yaba and other drugs. But no one has any concern about it. They (AL and BNP) are fighting for power, taking the country towards destruction,” he said.
Ershad, also a Special Envoy to the Prime Minister, was addressing a discussion marking the 32nd founding anniversary of Jatiya Jubo Sanghati, the youth wing of Jatiya Party, at the party chairman’s Banani office in the city.
The JaPa chief claimed that Awami League and BNP do not care whether people live or die. “They just want to grab power even by killing people in arson attacks. Such politics should be stopped,” he added.
Observing that the country’s people have got frustrated at the ‘unhealthy politics’ in practice in the country, he said they want to get rid of such politics.
Ershad also observed that there is no alternative to Jatiya Party to restore peace and prosperity in the country under the prevailing situation.
He said, his party is getting stronger day by day and taking preparation to go to power alone in the future, asking the party leaders and activists to work for strengthening it.
