Bangladesh pace bowler Al-Amin Hossain will be sent back home after he was found to have breached team rules in Brisbane on Thursday (February 19), and will take no further part in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, said BCB media release on Sunday.
Following consultations with the Board, the Bangladesh Team Management for the World Cup decided to send the player home immediately.
The Board will conduct its own inquiry into the breach after receiving the manager’s report at the end of the team’s World Cup campaign.
The Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) of ICC informed the Bangladesh team management of Al-Amin staying outside the team hotel after the 10pm deadline, confirmed Bangladesh team manager Khaled Mahmud. “Normally if a player has to stay outside the hotel after 10pm, he has to take the management’s permission,” Mahmud said in comments to ESPN. “We were not aware that Al-Amin left the hotel after that time, and were later informed by the ACSU of his transgression. He will be sent home as soon as possible.” Mahmud denied that Al-Amin’s suspension had any links with corruption.
Al-Amin played 11 ODI’s for Bangladesh since early 2014, but had not yet appeared in the current World Cup. He is likely to be replaced by Shafiul Islam.
