Klaas-Jan Huntelaar continued his bright start to the season with another goal as Ajax eased into the play-off round of the Champions League with a 5-2 aggregate win over Standard Liege.
The four-time winners were held 2-2 in the first leg but were never troubled once the ex-Real Madrid striker scored.
Matthijs de Ligt headed in a corner four minutes after Huntelaar’s opener.
And David Neres wrapped up the win from Dusan Tadic’s pass to secure a play-off with Dynamo Kiev.
Kiev beat Slavia Prague 3-1 on aggregate – and the winners of that two-legged tie will make the group stage.
Huntelaar, 35, returned to Ajax in 2017 and the club has now won 13 of the 14 games he has scored in
Also through on Tuesday was Benfica, who beat Fenerbahce 2-1 on the aggregate, Red Bull Salzburg and Red Star Belgrade, who needed extra-time to see off Spartak Trnava of Slovakia.
