The field level agriculturists, who are working in different agriculture-related organisations, should face growing challenges in agriculture sector to keep crop production increasing for ensuring food security.
Additional Secretary (Extension) of the Ministry of Agriculture Sanat Kumar Saha said this at a regional level views-sharing meeting with agriculture officers held at the DAE’s Additional Director’s office here on Saturday afternoon as the chief guest.
Earlier, Saha visited the ongoing agricultural activities at field levels in different areas of Rangpur and Kurigram districts, exchanged views with farmers and inspected various agri-activities.
Director General of Bangladesh Rice Research Institute Dr Md Shahjahan Kabir, director of Field Service Wing of the DAE Dr Md Abdul Muyeed, its Regional Additional Director Md Shah Alam and deputy director of Rangpur DAE Dr Sarwarul Alam accompanied Saha during his visit.
In the afternoon, regional additional director of the DAE Md Shah Alam presided over the meeting at his office in Rangpur.
The district and upazila level officials of the DAE and other agriculture related departments and organisations under the Ministry of Agriculture of Rangpur agriculture region attended the event.
The participating agriculture officials, scientists and researchers apprised the chief guest of the ongoing agricultural activities, condition of growing crops and problems being faced by them and sought necessary directions for resolving those.
The chief guest delivered necessary directions and suggestions to the field level agriculture officials for resolving the problems, issues and challenges being faced by them to make agricultural activities successful in the region.
He called upon the agriculturists to reach the new agriculture technologies and crop varieties evolved by different agricultural research institutions and organisations to the farmers for increasing food output.
