Agrani Bank keeps hope alive to stay Premier League

Skipper Shariar Nafees scored a magnificent 100 as Agarani Bank kept their hope alive to stay in the premier league as they registered an emphatic six-wicket victory over Kalabagan Krira Chakra in the first relegation league of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) on Thursday.
Agrani Bank, which moved up with 10 points with the day’s victory, will now play their next relegation league match against Brothers Union Club who have eight points. Kalbagan already relegated to the first division league with four points.
Nafees led from the front with an impressive 109-run off 142-ball, an innings that studded with 13 boundaries and two over boundaries as Agrani Bank chase down the target making 250 for the loss of four wickets with 25 balls to spare.
The Agrani Bank skipper Nafees also shared 172-run second-wicket partnership with Salman Hossain who provided an ample support during the chase with 83-run off 93-ball hitting 11 boundaries.
Mohammad Ashraful and Nahid Hasan were the most successful bowlers as they capture two Agrani Bank’s wickets conceding 38 and 52 runs respectively.
Earlier, opted to bat first after winning the toss, Kalabagan rode on Mohammad Ashraful’s brilliant ton, scored a decent total of 246 for 5 from their allotted 50 overs at BKSP ground in Savar.
The former national skipper Ashraful composed an unbeaten 103-run off 137-ball laced with eight boundaries and two over boundaries and during the process he shared 163-run fourth wickets stand with Taibur Rahman who chipped away 82, after Kalabagan slipped 3 for 36.
Later, cameo Riyazul Huda blasted 13-ball off 27-run to take Kalabagan near the 250 runs land mark.
Soumya Sarkar was the most successful bowler as he claimed two Kalabagan’s wickets giving away 46 runs.
