Agitation of the general students of Barishal University (BU) demanding removal of BU VC continued for the fifth day on Sunday.
Agitated students on Sunday morning holding protest rally in the campus area assembled in front of the academic building of the university at noon tying their mouth with black veils.
Speakers of the students rally said the VC only expressed his regret verbally through press notes, but he must appearing at the campus will pray for apology before the students and will resign from his post. Until that the agitation programmes of the students will continue.
On Monday a memorandum would be handed over to the divisional commissioner to press home their demand, the students announced.
The agitation programme of BU students started from Wednesday after Prof. Dr. Imamul Haque, vice chancellor of BU, in a programme of Debating Society at the university, on Tuesday afternoon, commented that the students, who foiled a programme of tea-party of the Independence Day observation, were Razakarer Bachcha.
This remark agitated the students and they started protest programmes demanding removal of VC from Wednesday.
Then the VC declaring closure of BU sine die and asking the students to vacate halls within Thursday afternoon left Barishal on Wednesday to attend a meeting of the university syndicate at liaison office of the university at Dhaka.
The students continuing their protest programmes remained stay at the halls ignoring order of the BU authourity.
On Friday night the VC expressed regret about his comment, which was rejected by the students and they continued in their protest programmes to press home removal of the VC from his post.
