Staff Reporter :Members of Agyan party (doping gang), who rob people after making them senseless, have become active all over the capital city, particularly at bus and launch terminals and railway stations.Sources said, the Agyan party operatives target the crowded places in the city for evil purpose. The criminals make their targets unconscious by feeding them sedative-mixed food items and then take away their belongings. Most of the victims are traders and bus passengers. In many cases, the gang use beautiful girls to make their mission successful. It was alleged that members of Agyan party are committing such crimes as having close link with the members of the law-enforcing agencies and transport workers, including driver and helpers. Mohammad Mohsin, son of late Abidur Rahman from Parashuram upazila under Feni district, a WASA Inspector fell victim to muggers at Postogola in the city. Before that he had drawn Tk one lakh from Postogola Janata Bank branch at 11:00am and then went to office nearby and worked there upto 1:00pm on October 20. Then he boarded a Mirpur bound ‘Sefty’ passenger bus. A gang of muggers followed him from the very beginning. They also boarded that bus and began to sell sleeping tablets and forcibly fed him. When he reached Sukrabad, he fell unconscious. He later did not know what happened. At one stage, they took all the money from the right pocket of his trouser by cutting with blade. When the bus reached near Pallabi, he was left in an unconscious state. Later he was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.About 400 people have been victimised by the party and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) till October 20, police sources said. Of the total, two of the victims have been died.”Members of the law- enforcing agencies, both in uniform and plainclothes, are now moving in to different strategic points in the city to nab the criminals, including muggers and Agyan party members,” a senior DMP official told The New Nation yesterday.
