BSS, Dhaka :The Inter-district Age group Women’s Swimming competition began on Monday at the Sultana Kamal Women’s Sports Complex in the city.State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Sri Biren Sikder, MP, formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.On the opening day’s events, Asha Khatun (Jhenaidah) stood 1st place in the 100m backstroke (13-14 years) while Lamia Akter (Jessore) and Julekha (Dhaka) finished second and third place respectively.In the 50m breaststroke event (8-10 years), Farjana Rumi (Jessore) stood top position while Mukta Khatun (Kushtia) and Fatema Akter (Jessore) finished second and third place respectively.In the 100m freestyle event (11-12 years), Jammy Khatun (Kushtia) stood first position while Ummey Jannatul Prema (Jessore) and Umme Habiba (Munshiganj) finished second and thirds position respectively.In the 100m butterfly event (13-14 years), Sahida Akter (Chapainawabganj) emerged first position while Salma (Madaripur) and Tania Khatun (Jhenaidah) finished second and third position respectively.Organised by Bangladesh Women’s Sports Association, 142 participants from 25 districts across the country are competing in the two-day meet.
