Staff Reporter :
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, top law officer of the state, once again received death threat on Sunday.
A letter, issuing death threat to the AG, said that he would be ‘blown up’ by grenades.
MahbubeyAlam filed a general diary with Shahbagh Police Station in this connection.
Deputy Attorney General Bishwajit Debnath said the ‘threat letters’ said AG [MahbubeyAlam] would be blown with grenades. “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina can’t protect him”, the letter said.
Earlier on December 7, the AG received a death threat through a letter sent by one who described himself as an expelled Awami League leader.
The AG had said “I received a letter in which its sender has asked me to get prepared for death.”
It was learnt that MahbubeyAlam got such death threats for five to six times since being appointed as attorney general in 2009. This time, he received five letters from anonymous persons.
“I received such death threats around five times after I was appointed as attorney general in 2009,” he said.
Mahabubey Alam said the sender in the letter annexed a report expressing anger to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government over different issues including the killing of Ziaur Rahman and sending the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami activists to prison.
