Noted actor Afzal Hossain and recitation artiste Progga Laboni have been awarded ‘Golam Mustafa Memorial Award 2020.’
The award giving ceremony was held at the Shilpakala Academy of Chattogram recently. Eminent sociologist Dr Anupam Sen, Ekushey Award winning actress and Member of Parliament Suborna Mustafa, among, others were present on the occasion.
Tarunnyer Uchchhas, a prominent recitation organisation of the country, introduced the award in 2017 with a view to paying homage to the late recitation personality and actor Golam Mustafa. Since then, the organisation honours cultural personalities with the award every year for their contributions to the country’s cultural arena.
In 2017, prominent actor, director and cultural personality Syad Hasan Imam received the award whereas celebrated elocutionist and actor Jayanta Chattopadhyay got the award in 2018. On the other hand, Suborna Mustafa has been awarded Golam Mustafa Memorial Award 2019.
