The eight players of Bangladesh Women’s Team under 16 are facing severe problem as they have to continue practice for contesting the next AFC U-16 Women’s Championship-2017 and also to take part in the pre-test to sit for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.
They will not be able to contest the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship-2017 which is scheduled to be held in Thailand if they are compelled to attend the pre-test.
In this circumstances, the authorities of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) submitted two letters to the Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) and the Chairman of Dhaka Education Board urging them to give permission to the players to sit for the SSC examination without pre-test.
General Secretary of BFF Md Abu Naim Sohag signed the letters where he mentioned that Bangladesh Women’s under 16 Football Team defeated Singapore, Iran and Kirgizstan women’s under 16 football teams. The players of Bangladesh Women’s under 16 Football Team will play in the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship-2017.
“The BFF authorities have already taken many initiatives to make the footballers perfect for the next race. As part the initiative the footballers spend their maximum time in practice,” the GS of BFF said.
He said, usually every student has to sit for the pre-test if he or she wants to take part in the SSC examination. Eight players of the team are SSC examinees. But they have no available time to take part in the pre-test.
“The women footballers represent Bangladesh in the world. It will be country’s achievement if they can do better in any series. So we urge the DSHE and Dhaka Board for giving permission to sit for the SSC examination without attending pre-test in the national interest,” he said.
Chairman of Dhaka Education Board Professor Mahbubur Rahman told The New Nation on Thursday that they would hold a meeting in this regard on Monday.
“There is scope to give permission to the national players to sit for the SSC examination without pre-test,” he said.
The SSC examinees from Bangladesh Women’s Under 16 Football Team are: Maria Manda, Sanjida Akhter, Siuly Akhter, Taslima Akhter of Koloshindhur High School in Mymensigh, Joshna of Suti VM Pilot Model High School in Tangail, Farjana Khanam of Housing Estate Girls High School in Kushtia, Roksana Begum of Charikata High School in Sylhet and Nargis Khatun of Bhasha Shaheed Abdul Jabbar Ansar VDP School and College in Gazipur.
