Sylhet Bureau :
The selling of advance train tickets began on Wednesday marking the Eid-ul-Azha in Sylhet Railway Station. The advance sale started with the tickets for August 8 and it would continue for next four days – 12 August, for the tickets of August 18, 19, 20 and 21 respectively.
On the first day of sale, the pressure of ticket seekers was thin and people could collect tickets after waiting a little. The selling of tickets started at 9:00am. But, most of the 3 counters became vacant within one and a half hours. Around half of3,831 tickets kept for advance sale on the first day were sold out by 10:30am, said Sylhet Railway Station Manager Kazi Shohidur Rahaman.
Sufficient measures were taken to check sale of ticket in the black market and any other unexpected situations. Members of different law enforcing agencies are keeping vigilance in this regard, he said.
