The sale of bus tickets for Eid passengers will start from June 12 in the city. The Bus Owners Association leaders said, tickets would be available on all the counters.
On the other hand, the Railway Ministry will take the decision in a meeting to be held on Thursday at the Rail Bhaban.
“The Railway Ministry has convened a meeting in this respect to fix the date of selling tickets in advance for Eid passengers,” Railway Minister Mujibul Haque told the journalists on Tuesday, advising to go to the Rail Bhavan for details.
Meanwhile, the BOA sources said that most of the passengers were asking for tickets of June 22 and 23.
They said the Eid-Ul-Fitre is likely to be observed on June 27. As such, the passengers are looking for tickets of June 22 and 23. Moreover, June 23 is Friday. This is the reason of their demand.
“There are demands for tickets of other days also, say June 24, 25 and 26,” said one of the officials of the Hanif Paribahan ticket counter at Arambagh.
When contacted, several bus owners association leaders said, they will start the sale of tickets from June 12.
Talking to The New Nation, Abdullah Sayeed an employee of a private firm at Motijheel, said that he would go home in June 22 with family members and then would return the next day. He will go home again just a day ahead of the Eid.
