ADP spending rises

Spending on the Annual Development Programme (ADP) has increased riding on the escalation in expenditure in the first four months of the current fiscal year.
Government agencies spent Tk 30,919.16 crore in the July-October period, which was 13.06 per cent of the total allocation of Tk 2,37,693 crore for the whole year, data from the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) shows.
The implementing agencies of the government, including ministries and divisions, implemented 12.79 per cent of the total development expenditure in the same period of last fiscal year.
Meanwhile, ADP spending in only October of this fiscal year was Tk 11,360.16 core, which was 4.80 per cent, up .07 per cent from the same period of the previous fiscal year’s 4.73 per cent.
Among the ministries, the industries ministry spent the highest percentage of funds allocated for development schemes. The pace of implementation by the health services division slightly increased in the July-October period.
The health ministry has been able to spend 3.99 per cent in the period of July-October, which was only 2.33 per cent of the total fund of Tk 13,000 crore in the first quarter (July-September) of 2021-22.
The health services division got the sixth-lowest allocation out of the total ADP outlay this fiscal year.
