Administration on right track, says Ashraf

Staff Reporter :Awami League (AL) General Secretary and newly appointed Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam on Tuesday said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina does not mingle politics with administration.”The premier wants the skilled and the meritorious officials to run the administration in the greater interest of the country. She believes that administration should work independently,” said the minister in a press briefing at the AL president’s Dhanmondi office on Tuesday.To mark the National Mourning Day on August 15, the leaders of ruling AL, its associate bodies and the Dhaka city unit of the Bangladesh Chhatra League organized a joint meeting there, Syed Ashraf briefed the journalists. Replying to a query, Syed Ashraf said, the government and the party are doing their respective work. None interferes into the others’. There is no scope for conflict between the government and the party,” the AL general secretary said. He said, the administration is on the right track and there will be no deviation.When asked about a claim that the AL was trying to split the BNP, Syed Ashraf said, there is no such information with him.  “Actually we know nothing about who are splitting the BNP. We want all political parties under the umbrella of democratic values” the Public Administration Minister said. When asked about the Election Commission’s letter about former minister Abdul Latif Siddique’s MP status, he said, “I have received the letter. The Election Commission has not fixed the hearing date. According to the Constitution and party’s rules and regulations, we will submit our argument to the Election Commission.”
