NBR Chairman asked CIID officials: Act with courage, honesty against smugglers, tax evaders

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) newly appointed Chairman Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, made his first visit at Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) on Thursday.
The NBR Chairman had asked CIID officials to act with courage, honesty against smugglers and tax evaders through strengthen the ongoing programs of CIID. Member of Customs and VAT administration of NBR Md Rezaul Hasan, CIID Chief Dr Moinul Khan, among others, were present in the meeting.
CIID Chief had demonstrated on the achievements, programs and anti smuggling drives of the past years in the meeting through documentary and presentations.
According to the CIID sources, NBR Chairman also advised the CIID officials to be more active against the manufacturers who are misusing the Bond facilities along with direction in related issues.
“CIID has performed consistently over the years which could be exemplary to the other government departments. The CIID officials are performing duties well and have demonstrated courage, patriotism and enthusiasm while performing national duties,” NBR Chairman notified.
“CIID officials’ challenging efforts are saving country’s image. So they need to perform apart greed and fear,” he suggested.
He also said that CIID officials are performing using limited resources and affirmed to facilitate more in the future with rationing, human resource mobilization, provide risk compensation and other required facilities after meeting with the related ministry.
