The Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 of Dhaka on Thursday rejected bail petition of lone accused KM Zahirul Islam Palash in the case filed in connection with the murder of college teacher Krishna Kaberi Biswas at Mohammadpur in the capital. Judge Shahed Nuruddin of the tribunal rejected Zahir’s bail plea after hearing on it yesterday.

husband), but he did not appear in the court. Later, the court re-fixed July 27 to interrogate him.
On April 20, the court framed charge against lone accused KM Zahirul Islam Palash in the murder case. On May 30, 2016, DB of Police submitted the charge-sheet of the case against the accused.
According to the case documents, Krishna Kaberi Biswas, 36, wife of BRTA Deputy Director Sitangshu Shekhar Biswas and a former college teacher of the city’s Mission International College, reportedly came under a brutal hammer attack of the accused in their apartment on March 30, 2015. Krishna’s husband Sitangshu, their 14-year-old daughter Srabani Biswas Sruti and eight-year old daughter Arti Biswas, were also injured in the incident.
On the night of March 30 the accused KM Zahirul Islam Palash, who worked as a manager at a brokerage firm, entered the flat of Sitangshu to greet him on his belated birthday. At one stage, Palash hit his head with a hammer after drugging him with contaminated juice.
As Krishna wanted to save her husband, the killer hacked her with a kitchen sickle and later set her on fire. She died the following day.
