Advance ticket sales: ACC’s surprise drive at Kamalapur

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted a surprise drive at Kamalapur Railway Station on Sunday to check irregularities in the sales of advance train tickets ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Bangladesh Railway authorities started selling the advance train tickets on Friday.
Several hundred holidaymakers were seen collecting tickets for12 June journey standing in long
queues at the railway station on Sunday. Tickets for June 13,14 and 15will be available on June 4,5 and 6 respectively.
The ACC team, led by its Deputy Director Mahmud Hasan, wanted to know from the ticket seekers whether they had any compliant.
In reply, many of them complained that designated employees at the counters repeatedly tried to sell tickets to those did not stand in queues. The ACC team then went to Station Manager Sitangshu Chakraborty and visited the ticket counters together with him. It instructed the manager to bring discipline and transparency in the ticket sales.
The ACC team also asked the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) team deployed at the station to stop the sales of tickets in the black market and bring discipline in the ticket sales.
