The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) yesterday asked banks to submit the account details of Evaly along with its managing director (MD) and chairman.
BFIU sent a letter to all banks and financial insti tutions asking them to send the information of Evaly Chairman Shamima Nasrin and MD Mohammad Rassel within five working days.
In August last year, the BFIU froze the bank accounts of Nasirn and Rassel.
Many customers have recently lodged complaints at the commerce ministry alleging that the e-commerce platform had not delivered products and services despite making payment in advance.
Earlier on August 19, Evaly said it had a liability of Tk 544 crore to its customers and merchants and equivalent amount of assets in tangible and intangible forms.
The beleaguered e-commerce platform shared the information in documents submitted to the commerce ministry in response to the ministry’s show-cause notice in which Evaly was asked to inform in details about its liabilities to customers and merchants, assets and explain how it would settle the liabilities.
