ACC working against use of black money in election

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmud on Thursday said,some intelligent units of ACC are working at field level to identify and prevent the use of black money in the national election.
ACC Chairman said, it will be better if the black money is invested to create employment for the educated youth.
“If our head is rotted, the body cannot remain safe anyway,” Iqbal Mahmud told it while he was addressing a view exchange meeting with the media personalities at his city office on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day.
“Corruption has not dropped and it is working against democracy of the developing countries like Bangladesh,” he said.
Mahmud said, “The ACC has arrested more than 600 people over the past three years and brought nearly 50 government officials to book on charges of taking bribes.
“The Commission has filed charges in 5,520 graft cases between 2007 and 2018 including 1,317 lawsuits, in which the accused faced punishment,” he said.
Mahmud said, “The ACC received nearly 18,000 complaints in 2017and another 12,000 till November 2018.
“As many as 1,944,220 calls have been received through the ACC’s hotline (106) between July 27, 2017 and Nov 30, 2018,” he added.
