ACC sues 21 people in graft case

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sued 21 people in a graft case for embezzling Tk 2.31 crore of the government.
ACC Assistant Director Mohammad Ali Akbar Khan filed the case with Gopalganj Sadar Police Station on Monday, ACC Public Relations Officer and Deputy Director Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told The New Nation yesterday.
The accused are: Mohammad Shahariar Matin, former Assistant Commissioner of Gopalganj district, Ramesh Paul, former Kanungo of Land Acquisition Department (LAD), Shuvendra Bikash Majumder, former Kanungo, Abdul Jabbar, former Kanungo, Mohammad Kashedul Haque Shamim, former Surveyor of LAD, Mohammad Ismail, former Surveyor of LAD (Now in Revenue Department) and Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, former Surveyor of LAD.
Besides, Horipada Saha of Hiron Village, Riazul Islam of Ratan Village, Mohammad Nannu Khan of Gopal Baria Village, Nannu Sheikh (Nayeem), Sheik Thanda, Delwar Hossain and Shahidul Islam of Dohar Para Village, Keramat Ali of Bangkura Village, Motiur Hazra of Madan Para Village, Ganesh Oza of Orahati Village, Sohrab Hossain of Poschimpara Village, Fazlur Rahman of Unshia Village, Litu Sheikh of Sunadia Village and Shamsunnahar Beauty of Chandra Diglia Village of Sadar and Kotalipara upazilas of the district are the other accused of the case. According to the first information record, they in collaboration with one another plundered Tk 2,31,44,732 through illegally allocating compensation for the houses, trees and other establishments on government khash land, vested property and Zilla Parishad property.
ACC on receipt of information launched an inquiry through forming an inquiry team, which submitted a primary examination report to the Commission and recommended of filing the case against the alleged accused a few days ago.
After scrutiny of the report, the Commission approved the team to lodge the case.
