Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday filed a case accusing seven persons including former civil surgeon and three physicians on charge of misappropriating Tk 9.15 crore during purchasing machineries for 250-bed Chattogram General Hospital.
ACC’s Assistant Director Sirajul Islam filed the case with ACC Integrated District Office Chattogram-1, said Lutfu Kabir Chandan, Deputy Director of the anti-graft watchdog.

The accused are: former civil surgeon and acting superintendent of Chattogram General Hospital Dr Mohammad Sarfaraz Khan Chowdhury, senior consultant (medicine) and chairman of purchase committee Dr Abdur Rob, junior consultant (surgery) Dr Bijoy Kumar Nath, Dr Moin Uddin Majumdar, proprietor of Bengal Scientific and Surgical Company Jaher Uddin Sarkar and proprietor of Ahmad Enterprise and Managing Director and CEO of ASL Aftab Ahmed, Md Muns Faruk Hossain.
Lutful Kabir said “Showing higher price than market price, the seven had purchased machineries for the 250-bed Chattogram General Hospital and amassed Tk 9.15 crore and Tk 30,000 from a procurement project in collaboration with each other.
