The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday filed a petition with the Appellate Division seeking stay on a High Court order that granted bail to BNP MP Harunur Rashid for six months in a case filed on charge of tax evasion in selling an imported luxury car.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division,
Justice Md Nuruzzaman, sent the matter to the full Bench and fixed today (Wednesday) for further hearing.
Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan appeared in the court on behalf of the ACC, while Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain, Advocate Zainul Abedin and Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan stood for the MP.
Earlier on October 28, the High Court granted bail to BNP MP Harunur Rashid for six months in the case.
The High Court Bench of Justice Md Shawkat Hossain passed the order after admitting his appeal filed challenging a lower court verdict that sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment in the case.
