Transparency International, Bangladesh (TIB) on Thursday urged the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to eliminate doubt and confusion which arose centering the withdrawal of its official Sharif Uddin to ensure trust on the commission.
The termination of Sharif Uddin, deputy assistant officer of ACC, caused a negative reaction in and outside the commission with ACC officials taking to the street to protest the decision, which is an exceptional incident, TIB in a press statement said on Thursday.
“Sharif exposed the land acquisition syndicate which siphoned off public money, forgery in issuing national identity card and passport, irregularities in Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company with skill.
It said as per the service rule of ACC, it reserves the right to sack any official. “But the question arises why the commission chose the way of sacking him other than protecting such a skilled and honest official? “
TIB in its statement urged ACC to clear its position. “Otherwise, the trust and people’s confidence in it will face a serious crisis.
