The Anti-Corruption Commission has imposed a ban on foreign travel by former Directorate of Posts director general Sudhangshu Shekhar Bhadra and its inspector Rabeya Khatun as both of them face an inquiry of procurement related corruption.
The commission sent a letter to the Special Branch of police on Sunday in this regard. The commission was informed that the duo was trying to leave Bangladesh, an ACC director told media on Tuesday.
On November 10, Posts and Telecommunications Division sent Sudhangshu on forced leave as the primary investigation found his involvement in corruption. On September 1, the ACC interrogated Sudhangshu for several hours on charges of his involvement in irregularities and corruption in procurement for government projects.
He, however, denied all allegations brought against him.
ACC officials said that Sudhangshu was involved in corruption in distributions of 8,000 to 8,500 laptops and other equipment.
On August 19, a legal notice was sent to the government to dismiss Sudhangshu Shekhar Bhadra from the post of the director general of the country’s postal department since he had met prime minister Sheikh Hasina despite testing positive for Covid-19.
