The High Court on Monday ordered the Anti-Corruption Commission to probe into a case lodged over forgery of Prime Minister’s Office document and submit the probe report on time.
The HC Bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Md Badruzzaman passed the order after holding hearing on a bail petition filed by an accused, Najim Uddin, of the case.
The court at the same time asked the accused of the case to place their petitions in a court that handles the cases of the ACC and refused to grant bail to Najim Uddin.
Advocate Sayeed Ahmed Raja took part in the hearing on behalf of the bail petitioner, while attorney general AM Amin Uddin and deputy attorney general Dr Md Bashir Ullah represented the State.
Earlier on December 8 in 2020, a Dhaka court also ordered the ACC to probe into the case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayes ordered the anti-graft body to probe into the case as involvement of government officials was found in the case and the charges were found to be a scheduled offence under ACC act.
