The Anti-Corruption Commission on Wednesday arrested a Deputy Director of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) from the city for allegedly embezzling Tk1.02 crore.
Deputy Director of the ACC Rafiqul Islam arrested Deputy Director of Dhaka Urban Management Support Unit of LGED Tamzid Sarwar.
Public Relations Officer of the Commission Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter to The New Nation.
He said, Tamzid was arrested after the Commission filed a case
against him with Dharmapasha Police Station in Sunamganj on Tuesday.
The FIR report says, Tamzid had allegedly embezzled Tk 1.02 crore during construction of Dharmapasha-Joyosri Road in 2010-2012. Tamzid was Executive Engineer of Sunamganj district at that time.
