ACC arrests 7 graft suspects

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday arrested seven graft suspects from Rajshahi, Habiganj, and Sylhet in separate graft cases.
An ACC team led by director Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan of Rajshahi zila office, arrested five bank officials from there, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
The arrestees are: manager of Agrani Bank’s Pakshi branch Kaysar Ali Miah, its former managers Mosharraf Hossain and Md Afsar Ali and cashiers Nurul Islam and Ramzan Ali Miah.
Earlier, in the day, the Commission filed a case against the bank officials with Ishwardi Police Station for allegedly swindling Tk 93 lakh from Pakshi branch of Agrani Bank.
Also on Wednesday, ACC assistant director Fakhrul Islam of its Habiganj zila office arrested principal officer of Agrani Bank’s Nabinagar branch (retired) Md Hanif Miah from Habiganj sadar.
On 17 July 2016, the ACC filed a case against him with Nabinagar Police Station for allegedly swindling about Tk 5 lakh from Nabinagar branch of the bank.
