Academics for pursuing Bangabandhu’s ideals for prosperous country

Academics at a discussion have called for following ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to materialise his dream of building a golden and prosperous country. They said this at the discussion arranged by the authority of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) at playground No-1 on the campus as a part of day-long programs taken to celebrate the Victory Day-2019 on Monday afternoon.
Vice-Chancellor (VC) of BRUR Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah attended the discussion as the chief guest. Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the university Professor Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina, Dean of the Faculty of Life and Earth Science Md. Atiur Rahman and Registrar Colonel (Retd) Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal addressed as special guests. Head of the Department of Bengali of BRUR Professor Dr. Parimal Chandra Barman presented the keynote speech narrating importance of the day. Presided over by Convener of the Victory Day Observance Committee of BRUR Professor Dr. RM Hafizur Rahman, its member secretary Tabiur Rahman Prodhan moderated the discussion.
Paying deep respect to Bangabandhu and martyrs of the War of Liberation, the Vice-Chancellor called for disseminating true national history among young generations and working unitedly to build a developed Sonar Bangla. Earlier, the VC hoisted the national flag amid singing of the national anthem and led the victory rally with participation of teachers, students, officials and employees on the varsity campus.
Later, Kalimullah along with teachers, students and officials of the university placed wreaths at the Swadhinata Smritistambha ‘Arjan’ at Modern Mour and Independence Memorial on the campus. Deans of six faculties, Heads of 21 Departments, leaders of Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association and Employees’ Association, BRUR unit of Chhatra League and other organisations also placed wreaths there.
