Academicians for extension of non-formal education

Academicians from both at home and abroad have underscored the need for extension and research activities on non-formal education at university level in Bangladesh to turn the socially backward and unprivileged people into able and worthy citizens.
They made these observations at a daylong workshop on ‘Sharing Experience of Non-formal Education, Research and Extension Activities at University Level’ arranged at Begum Rokeya auditorium of RDRS Bangladesh in the city on Saturday.
The District Non Formal Education Bureau, district administration, UNESCO Dhaka and RDRS Bangladesh jointly organised the workshop with Head of Programme Coordination of RDRS Bangladesh Monjusree Saha in the chair.
Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr AKM Nurun Nabi, also a population scientist with international reputation, attended and inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest.
Ex-director of the Department of Adult, Continuing Education and Extension of the University of Kalyani in West Bengal of India Dr Ratneswar Bhattacharjee, its incumbent Head of the Department Dr Niladri Biswas and Acting Director (Education) and Senior Education Advisor of Save the Children in Bangladesh Habibur Rahman took part as resource persons.
