Academic activities of the 10 no. Charbarul Government Primary School at Islampur in Jamalpur district have reportedly been affected seriously due to the irregular attendance of the teachers.
The school has five teachers. But they are not regular in the classes hampering the academic activities, locals alleged.
The Headteacher of the school Ramjan Ali and his wife, who is also an assistant teacher of the school, have been living at the district town. Besides, three other teachers have been living in Cumilla, Mymensingh and Jamalpur town without attending the school activities regularly.
It is alleged that Ramjan Ali appointed a proxy teacher named Apiron instead of him with monthly pay Tk 4,000 contract. Locals said the teachers are doing such irregularities with the concern of the higher authority.
Former UP Member Abdul Hye said, “We locked the school due absence of teachers.” He further alleged that headteacher Ramjan Ali remained absent most of the working days and embezzled the development fund of the school.
