Pacers Abu Jayed and Taskin Ahmed of Bangladesh Cricket team dominated against New Zealand XI on the first day of the two-day practice match before the rain-interrupted the play at Mount Maunganui in New Zealand on Tuesday.
Abu Jayed and Taskin Ahmed bowled extremely well. Abu Jayed grabbed three wickets at the cost of 27 runs, while Taskin Ahmed bagged two wickets instead of 26 runs.
Put into bat first, New Zealand faced disaster as they lost three wickets at the cost of eight runs.
Pacer Abu Jayed gave his team early lead as opener Luke Georgeson (6) was caught by Mushfiqur Rahim off Abu Jayed when New Zealand’s total was just eight.
Then, right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed struck as Jacob Cumming, the other opener (1) was caught by Liton Das off Taskin when New Zealand’s score was eight runs for the loss of two wickets.
One-down Devon Conway dismissed for a duck as he was caught by Liton Das off Abu Jayed when New Zealand’s total was eight for the loss of three wickets.
Second-down Jack Boyle and third-down Mitch Renwick repaired the damage adding together 30 runs before Jack Boyle was caught by Liton Das off Taskin Ahmed when New Zealand’s score was 38 for the loss of four wickets.
Mitch Renwick was caught by Liton Das off Abu Jayed when New Zealand’s total was 62 for the loss of five wickets.
Jack Boyle made 20 from 47 balls including two fours.
Mitch Renwick scored 18 from 60 balls with four fours.
Jacob Bhula remained unbeaten with 21. His 20-ball innings belted with five fours. Ma’ara Ave remained unbeaten with four runs.
