Standard Chartered has appointed Abrar A Anwar as its new Chief Executive Officer for Bangladesh from 1 January, 2015, says a press release.
Abrar has taken responsibility from Jim McCabe, who served the bank in Bangladesh for the last five years, will now work as CEO in Sri Lanka.
Abrar, currently Head of Corporate & Institutional Clients, joined Standard Chartered Bank in January 2011. He has more than 23 years experience in international banking in Bangladesh, India and the UK. His achievements include setting up of the first “Syndication & Structured Finance” business in Bangladesh (for the then ANZ Grindlays Bank), along with successful closure of milestone transactions in the Energy & Power, Infrastructure, Telecom, Aviation, Domestic and Export-oriented industries.
Upon his appointment as Bangladesh CEO, Abrar said:
