About 250 detained BD men want to return home from Libya

About 250 Bangladeshis in Libya want to return home. Sources said that about 400 Bangladeshis were among 500 men detained in Libya for their illegal attempt to reach Europe crossing the Mediterranean sea.
Off them, 244 of the Bangladeshis expressed their wishes to return home shunning the way of reaching Europe illegally.
Meanwhile, Major General SM Shamim-Uz-Zaman, Bangladesh Ambassador to Libya said that the number of identified Bangladeshis might increase.
He said that the 244 men are among the identified persons want to return home.
Besides, the remaining 156 did not show any interest in repatriation, SM Shamim-Uz-Zaman said.
According to the international migration law, if a person does not want to return home voluntarily, the legal process makes it difficult to send him back to home country.
SM Shamim-Uz-Zaman said that the repatriation of the 244 detainees might begin by May 15.
Libyan police detained more than 500 migrants, mostly Bangladeshis, from Misrata city while they were taking preparation to enter Europe by a boat.
The detained persons have taken to Hamza Tariq Al Matar Detention Center in Tripoli later, and are staying their now.
There has been an increase in recent years in the number of migrant deaths due to their boats sinking in the Mediterranean while trying to illegally enter Italy.
As per the law enforcement agencies statements, human traffickers are extorting large sums of money from Bangla-deshis and other nationals by alluring them to go Europe for higher wages and better life.
