Veteran journalist ABM Musa was laid to eternal rest on Thursday at Kutubpur of Fulgazi in Feni after fourth namaz-e-janaza there. He was buried in his village home beside his mother’s grave as per his last wish.A hearse carrying mortal of the journalist left the National Press Club for his village home at about 2:15 PM on Thursday. His third namaz-e-janaza was held at Mizan Maidan in Feni town after Magrib prayers under the arrangement of the Feni Press Club. DC of Feni Humayun Kabir Khandaker and others joined the namaj-e-janaza and paid homage to the journalist. Later, his body was taken to his village home for burial. Before the burial, his fourth namaz-e-janaza was held on the premises of Azam Ali High School of Fulgazi at about 9:30 PM. The body of ABM Musa was earlier brought to the National Press Club from LabAid mortuary at noon. His second namaz-e-janaza was held after Zohr prayers there. People from all walks of lives, including political leaders, senior journalists, academics, cultural activists, civil society members and friends and fans of ABM Musa, joined the janaza and paid their last respect to him by placing wreaths at his coffin. Among them, Industries Minister Tofail Ahmed, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Moudud Ahmed and acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. Barrister Mainul Hosein Chairman, Editorial Board of The New Nation also paid, respect the veteran journalist’s coffin on the occasion. Leaders of the National Press Club, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) and several other socio-political organisations also paid homage to the veteran journalist.Meanwhile, there was no namaz-e-janaza held at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad. ABM Musa was an MP of the country’s first Parliament and a janaza of an incumbent MP or former MP usually is held there. Many criticised the government for not taking initiative of holding janaza at the South Plaza. Mirza Fakhrul said that the government did not show proper respect to the veteran journalist. Columnist Syed Abul Maksud said that perhaps, the government did not take such initiative considering the matter that ABM Musa had criticised the government. ABM Musa died on Wednesday in a city hospital. His first namaz-e-janaza was held at Iqbal Road ground, Mohammadpur in the city after Magrib prayers the same day. Then his body was taken to LabAid mortuary.
