Police arrested one person for his alleged attempt to kidnap a student of Rajshahi University (RU) on Monday noon.
The arrestee was identified as Ujjal Hossain,25, son of Golam Mostafa, a resident of Darikhorbona area under Boalia thana of the city.
Witnesses said two unidentified people, introducing themselves as detective branch personnel, in an apparent bid to abduct him, forced Nurzaman, a third-year student of the Statistic Department of RU, to get on a motorbike at the university’s main gate while he was walking on the east side around 12:00 noon. As Nurzaman raised screams, locals came to his rescue and managed to capture Ujjal but his associate got away.
