Abducted trader rescued in Netrakona after 10 days

Netrakona Correspondent :Netrakona detective branch (DB) of Police and Kalmakanda thana police in a joint drive rescued an abducted businessman Gazi Mojibur Rahman Mojnu,50, from the bordering area under Kalmakanda upazila in Netrakona district on Friday night. The businessman was abducted from Pallabi of Dhaka city 10 days ago. The abductors demanded ransom money from his family amounting to Taka five lakh through mobile-phones for his release from their captivity.  Police sources said, on receiving emergency massage from Pallabi police station in Dhaka, two separate teams of the DB police and Kalmakanda thana conducted a series of operations in the Kalmakanda upazila area and finally rescued the businessman from a place nearby Langura Bazar in the upazila. The businessman was blind-folded when he was rescued. He was tortured by the kidnappers, the sources said. Earlier, the thana police and DB police forces caught the kidnapper identified as Masud Rana, 35, son of Mohrom Ali from village Langura. Police conducted the joint operations on the basis of his confessional statement.Officer-in-Charge of the Kalmakanda police station Bashir Ahmed said, “A police team of the Pallabi police station received the rescued businessman and arrested kidnapper from the Kalmakanda police station Saturday.
