Sylhet Correspondent :Police recovered the decomposed body of a primary school student from the house of a police constable at Kumarpara of Jharnarpar residential area in Sylhet on Saturday night.The victim was identified as Abu Sayeed, 10, son of Abdul Motin. He was a class IV student of Roynagar Govt Primary School. The body of the boy was recovered five days after his abduction.Police detained three persons in this connection. They are Constable Ebadur of Airport Police Station, district Olama League General Secretary Abdur Rakib and RAB-police source Geda Mia for their alleged involvement in the murder after abduction.Acting on a tip-off, the police raided constable Ebadur’s house on Saturday night and recovered the severed parts of body wrapped in six sacks. Police suspected that the boy might have been killed three to four days ago. Quoting victim’s father, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police [SMP] Md Rahmat Ullah said: “Sayeed was abducted on Tuesday evening. The abductors first demanded Tk5 lakh as ransom from the family the same night. The amount was reduced to Tk 2 lakh.” “Abdul Motin filed a general diary with Kotwali police station on Wednesday night over abduction of his son,” he said. Police and RAB tried to rescue Sayeed through tracking signal of the mobile phone calls used for demanding the ransom. RAB 9 Company Commander ASP Mainuddin Chowdhury said they at first could not track exact location of the abductors as they were changing their location frequently. Later, police and RAB tried to rescue Sayeed through tracking signal of the mobile phone used for the ransom call.Constable Ebadur, who was familiar to Sayeed’s family, and so-called RAB source Geda Mia convinced them to give the ransom to free the boy. They also took Tk 2 lakh from the family.’On suspicion of Ebadur’s activities, police tapped his phone calls with Geda Mia and confirmed about their involvement with the abduction and murder,’ ADC Rahmatullah said elaborating the crime scene.The body was handed over to the family after an autopsy at Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital.Meanwhile, the arrested police constable Ebadur Rahman has given confessional statement before a Sylhet court, admitting his involvement in the abduction of schoolboy Abu Sayeed.Ebadur gave the statement under Section 164 of the code of criminal procedure before the Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 of Judicial Magistrate Shahedul Karim on Sunday.Abdul Matin, father of deceased Abu Sayeed, lodged a murder case against six people including police constable Ebadur.
