Dhaka Abahani Ltd maintained their winning run to take the solo lead in the Bangladesh Premier Football League beating newcomers Uttar Baridhara Club by 2-0 goals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
With the feat, Abahani Limited dominated the league table securing 16 points from six matches while Uttar Baridhra remained at their previous collection of 5 points, playing the same number of matches.
Midfielder Shahedul Alam Shahed and Ghanaian forward Awudu Ibrahim scored one goal each for the popular sky-yellow Dhanmondi outfit, one in each half in the day’s match
Abahani took lead in the 12th minute as their medio Shahed found the net by a left footer angular shot on a cut back of Ghanaian forward Osei Morrison from the right flank (1-0).
Unmarked Ghanaian forward Awudu Ibrahim doubled the margin in the 48th minute of the match by a low ground shot after taking control a clearance of an opponent defender (2-0)
Baridhara Club came close to reduce the margin but Abahani defender Mohammad Sujon saved his team as he cleared the ball from goal line foiling a attack Nigerian forward Akindele from the danger zone.
