Abahani, Sheikh Jamal play goalless in BPL

Abahani Limited and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club split points when their match ended in a goalless draw in the second phase of the Nitol Tata Bangladesh Premier Football League held on Sunday late evening at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Abahani had a chance to take the lead in the 28th minute but Ghanaian forward Osei Morrison failed to head on a cross from Portuguese forward Soares from the right.
Sheikh Jamal were also came close to scoring in the 47th minute as defender M Linkon curved a cross to Cameroonian forward Wasio Ayoola whose header was punched away by goalkeeper Shahedul Islam Sohel for the cost of corner.
Haitian forward Sony Norde squandered another chance for Jamal in the 56th minute. Haitian forward Wedson Anselme put a pass to Sony who fired an angular shot but missed the side post having one-on-one with goalkeeper Sohel.
Defender Linkon got marching order in the 60th minute of the match as referee Mizanur Rahman showed him direct red card following his unsporting behavior in the match.
After the day’s outcome, Jamal took their tally to 38 points from 16 matches while Abahani earned 32 points from same of the matches.
Earlier, in the first phase, the two sides played out to a goalless draw.
